Gods of Terra | Another Day in Hell
The Army marched forward, having begun engaging the Enemy after Command got word from the scouts ahead. Tanks slid gracefully through the air, just above ground with the dull vibration of Kurtz-Dunar lift projectors that let them ride the planet’s gravity well like a bird riding updrafts.
In seconds, the Army hunkered down in craters and trenches as they readied to get an updated report from the scouts.
Scout Corporal Artius looked though his sensor scope, its augmented reality readouts catching his full attention.
Wait! What was that?
Just up ahead he caught the brief flash of a weapon-launch signature. The retreating Enemy had just launched a surface-to-air torpedo in his vehicle’s direction. Treachery! He must warn the advancing Army behind him of this trap, but it was too late, as the nuclear-tipped torpedo struck the scout-tank, ending his world in pain and fire.
Behind him, the Army’s Grand Marshal saw the flash, followed by the mushroom cloud rising skyward only kilometers away, and swore just as the shockwave struck, his Army’s outer shielding fried by the electromagnetic pulse. But the blast passed overhead, and his forces would survive, once they emerged from their positions.
It was another day in hell for the Army of the Forsaken Worlds, one for which the Enemy would pay dearly. The tanks powered up, hardwired circuits routing power to the lift-projectors, and they rose skyward for maximum weapons coverage from all directions.
The Grand Marshal smiled as he gave the order for a full orbital munitions assault of the Enemy…
For blood and vengeance!
